Summer is here! For many that looks like more family time, more down time, and sometimes more lost time. How do we fill our days after a season of busy schedules?  For others, summer is a crazy time of activities and travel. How do you live intentionally in the midst of running back and forth?

Don’t worry. Either way, we’ve got you covered. We think ministry and growing in the Lord can be even sweeter in the summer. Over the next four weeks, we will share how you can live your summer on mission. But even more important than living our summers on mission is living in a way that runs with endurance the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus every single day of the year.

1. Greet each day intentionally.

We are only given a limited amount of time in this life. Let’s make the most of it! This may mean less time in front of the screen and more time developing spiritual disciplines.

“So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

2. Engage with others actively.

Commit to engage with your neighbors, friends, and family this summer in a way that serves, cares for, and loves them. How can you serve them and show them the love of Christ?

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” (John 13:34)

3. Study God’s Word passionately.

God’s Word is full of wisdom and answers to many questions and decisions that can cause anxiety. Let’s run to Him and passionately pursue relationship with Him by spending time in His Word.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.” (Psalm 19:7-10)

4. Share the gospel boldly.

When we remember that time is short and that those who don’t know the Lord are destined to eternity apart from Him, we prioritize our time differently. May we partner together this summer to boldly share the love of Jesus and the gift He freely offers to those who trust Him.

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” (Mark 16:15)

5. Give your time, talent, and treasure selflessly.

This summer, make it a priority to give your time to serve others, your talents to glorify the Lord, and your treasure to grow His kingdom by investing in ministries that change the world.

“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

6.Grow in in your love for God, His people, and the lost diligently.

Spend time with God’s people. Spend time with the lost and remember the Lord’s desire for them to come to know Him. And spend time investing in the things that will stir your affections for the Lord this summer.

“And he answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27

We look forward to all God has in store as we devote ourselves to becoming more like Him this summer. See a full list of events, Bible studies, and ministry opportunities you can participate in during June and July. Live on mission with us this summer!
