“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” - Esther 4:14
Once again, the people of Israel faced almost certain annihilation. While in captivity, Haman, a Persian official with a personal grudge, began plotting against the Jews. At his urging, an order was sent forth that all Jewish people in the kingdom should be destroyed. Esther was a recent addition to the king’s collection of wives. She had hidden her Jewish ancestry at the urging of her cousin, Mordecai, a Jewish official at the royal court. Mordecai was certain that God would faithfully rescue His people and Esther was the one who was to deliver the message. Faced with certain death if she displeased the king, Esther boldly spoke out, confronted Haman, and spoke truth to the king.
Esther shared her testimony with the king and it changed the course of history. The risk was significant, but the reward was eternal. Esther hid her faith, yet as believers we are called to live our lives as a testimony to the Lord. You may give your treasure or resources, but do you give your testimony as well? God has given you a story to share with the world for such a time as this.
As Christians, we have a hope and a peace that the world desperately needs. Who can you share the gospel with? The Lord may have positioned you in your community to be the one to share your testimony and the gospel with those around you.
