You’ve been challenged to go into all the world and make disciples. You’ve been charged to reach your Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria. But how do you practice obedience and a mission mentality when you can’t (or shouldn’t be) leaving your home?

You literally can’t “go” but you can still “reach, teach, and minister” as we’ve talked about at First Dallas. We can still transform our world with God’s Word…one life at a time.

But how?

You can—right now, right where you are, with what you have—you can be a blessing.

You can contact.

Call the mom who can’t take her young children or toddlers to the park or to play with friends like normal. Call the older couple who had surgery before all this happened and can’t get out. Call the single adult who lives alone or lives far from family. We have the gift of contact through technology. It may not be a personal hug, but you can provide virtual care.

You can give.

Got an extra roll of toilet paper? Or maybe another package of chicken because Walmart was out when your neighbor tried their order. Or maybe God has blessed you with continual income right now, and you can purchase a grocery order or support your favorite local restaurant and send the meal to another family. You can also give to what God continues to do through the ministry of our church, so that we can continue to reach more people during this time of isolation.

You can get creative.

Stories are pouring in of colored signs taped to windows or sidewalk chalk reminders for neighborhood walkers, just reminding them that they aren’t alone. There is a God who loves them. And when they are ready, their neighbor down the street might introduce them to this good God.

You can share.

Share resources the church is providing. Invite your friends and neighbors to tune in to iCampus, to Sunday School, to our equip page, to watch, listen to, and read other stories of God’s faithfulness.

Restrictions provide us with opportunities to get creative. But God has called you to be a blessing, and no matter what this season looks like for you, you have the ability and means to be a blessing. Got your own #beablessing story? Share it with us!
