Ecclesiastes 3 teaches us that “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” While no one could have predicted that we would be sheltering at home to avoid a virus only a few months into 2020, it didn’t surprise the Lord. He is using and moving in His church to bring hope and impact lives for the Kingdom, and we love sharing stories of what God is doing.
A Time to Invite
Ali is a makeup artist for the Today Show, who is originally from South Africa, but now lives in New York. The only reason that she looked into our service was because President Trump had mentioned that he was going to be watching. Because he said he was going to be watching First Dallas, Ali watched and rededicated her life to Christ!
Judy is one of our widows who requires 24/7 home healthcare. Her caregiver watched the service with her. When it was over, Judy noticed her caregiver, who is Muslim, was noticeably moved by the message. Judy asked her what she was experiencing, and she told her she prayed the prayer with Dr. Jeffress. They talked about her decision and celebrated her new-found faith in Christ.
A Time to Connect
Dorita and her husband live in Tennessee and have been blessed by the ministry and choir, especially the virtual choir and hymn night. She said the spirit of God filled their home, and they were blessed beyond all they could imagine. If they lived in Dallas, she said they would definitely want to attend First Dallas!
Scott tuned in on the Sunday President Trump mentioned our church. His father is 94 and does not see nor hear well. He was able to read the large closed captioning and understand the pastor clearly. They have been watching faithfully every Sunday since and will continue until their state allows them to go back to church.
A Time to Minister
Frances lost her husband in November and now lives with her daughter, Becky. Frances is hard of hearing, so you have to call Becky to give her mom the message. Becky is so grateful to the church for the way it is ministering to people in this time of isolation. She said that they start their Sunday morning with coffee, breakfast, and listening to Doug Brady, then they watch iCampus. They are back on Sunday night with DU ICR, on Tuesday night they watch Dr. Harvey Solganick, and then Wednesday Night Bible study. Our online ministry is ministering in a great way to Frances and Becky. Becky and her mom used to bring home the Wednesday Reminder to her mom and they would write and send cards to the homebound who had birthdays that week. Now, she is getting a list of the homebound from a staff member so that they can continue to minister during this season!
