‘Tis the season for resolutions, revelations, and reevaluations. Some of us choose to focus on a word for the year, some make lists, some choose to do nothing at all. While we begin with good intentions, studies show that many of us will abandon our progress within a month or two.
While goals are often accomplished or discarded because of emotion or circumstance, callings tell a different story. Praise God, He doesn’t give us a set of goals that are marked “pass” or “fail” according to our performance. He gives us guides for our good, the good of others, and His glory. He continually calls us to something better – Himself.
At First Baptist Dallas, we recognize that we have a calling and a High Priest who has already given us a blueprint for success. We want to be faithful to walk according to how we’ve been called. We want to grow the body of Christ in number, in discernment, in knowledge of His Word, in love and service to others, and in ability to communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ. We want to mobilize the army, and we commit to doing that through four specific avenues:
We understand that people worship differently, so we offer three unique worship experiences – a choir and orchestra led service, a contemporary band led service, and a streamed online experience through our iCampus.
We believe it is our job to equip the saints for the work of the gospel and we do that through truth-filled messages from Dr. Jeffress, Sunday School, Discipleship University courses, and a variety of other opportunities.
We know that believers are given a spiritual gift in order to serve the body of Christ and glorify God. Our goal is to equip, empower, and deploy every member of our church to serve in their area of giftedness.
We are committed to influencing our city, nation, and world with the truth of God’s Word by equipping our members and deploying them to share the gospel and engage with others. Because of faithful giving to Fuel the Fire, we are able to communicate the gospel and disciple the body of Christ locally, nationally, and internationally through our current ministries, Pathway to Victory, our radio and television ministry, and the First Dallas iCampus, our online ministry.
In an ever darkening culture, we know the truth. We are the light. For those who are in Christ, we are soldiers, fighting a daily battle against that which is not flesh and blood. We need one another, and we need training to accomplish all God has called us to. First Baptist Dallas is committed to providing Christian community and biblical training not just in 2017, but at all times.
“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.” Ephesians 4:1 (NASB)
