Because of your faithful giving to Mission 1:8, we are impacting the lives of kids through the ministry of Upward Sports. Upwards Sports is a youth recreational league for ages K5-6th grade. This ministry is unique because it combines sports with sharing the message of Christ. The twofold purpose of this league is for players to learn the skills necessary to build a strong foundation in the sport they’re playing, but more so, is learning Christian values and principles that lead to a life transformed by Christ.
To do so, each coach leads devotionals, kids memorize verses, and everyone comes together each week to hear the gospel. Parents hear the gospel, too.
Thanks to your generous giving, many children have been able to participate in Upward Sports who would not otherwise have an opportunity to do so. For example, we were able to add 30 kids to our program from a local underprivileged school this season. Most, if not all of them, had very little church background.
Upward Sports has also been an avenue to usher multiple families into other ministries in to our church-- kids attending student worship and moms attending Oasis, our women’s ministry. Several girls went on the girls retreat about 3 weeks ago, and one, Abigail, accepted Christ as her savior.
Luis and Jose, brothers on the 2nd and 3rd grade team from the elementary school, were so inquisitive about the Bible after the first week’s devotional, that our devotion leader gave each of them their very own copy of the Action Hero Bible the following week.
Additionally, a few families that have been visiting only a short time have decided to make First Dallas their home because of the incredible ministries we have available for kids at this church.
Thank you for your generous giving to Mission 1:8. Mission 1:8 is our all-inclusive ministry budget that includes everything we are doing throughout the county and the world, and also includes everything we are doing through our local ministries in our own church and community. It is through ministries like these that we are able to keep reaching our local community for Christ.
