You probably clicked on this post feeling unsure. Unsure about a post from a church. Unsure what we might have to say about this whole God thing. Unsure if you can ever truly trust anyone or anything.

Unsure.

We understand. Life is uncertain and trusting a God you can’t see, well, at first glance there’s a lot to be unsure about. Here’s the good news, friend: we believe you can be sure. Sure about life. Sure about direction. Sure about God. And sure about your place in this world.

Let’s talk about the God thing.

We believe He’s real, that He created you, loves you with the kind of love you’ve never experienced before, and He wants you to know Him.

Right about now you may be thinking: “Yeah, but if you knew all the things I’ve done, there’s no way you would tell me that God loves me or would want to know me.”

We understand that, too. Life is difficult and sometimes we are placed in situations where we choose what hurts us instead of what is best for us. You feel unsure because you feel unworthy, but God doesn’t see you that way.

Jeremiah 1:5 says that before you were even created in your mother’s womb, God knew you. Let that sink in. He knew you. David takes it one step further in Psalm 139 to say that God knit us, formed us, and we are wonderfully made. You, friend, are wonderfully made, crafted by the hands of the God of the universe. And He said that what He made is good.

If you are unsure about God and how He could feel about you because of your life or your past, here’s the brutal honesty: you are unworthy. All of our sin separates us from a perfect God (Romans 6:23). So something had to be done.

Here’s more beautiful truth: Jesus loved you so much that He died on your behalf (John 3:16). Then He conquered the grave, the only man in human history capable of raising Himself after death had claimed Him. Long before Jesus came as a man, the prophet Isaiah wrote: “But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.”

You are healed, friend – forgiven, made clean. Jesus didn’t die for 50 percent, 80 percent, or even 99.9 percent of your mistakes. He died for 100 percent. He looks at you and sees someone that has the freedom to follow Him. He made you worthy to receive that gift. You don’t have to be unsure.

Still uncertain that this perfect, big God could want you? Here’s more truth that you need to hear today: our pride can trick us into thinking that our mistakes, our sins, are terminally unique. This isolates us, and we begin to believe that God could love everyone else, just not us. Jesus came for everyone, and He paid for all sin. And He wants you to follow Him and see yourself as He sees you – forgiven.

Still unsure? Jesus isn’t asking you to come and fit into a mold of the “perfect church person.” We have news for you – that person doesn’t exist. We all come to the cross with sin, baggage, and a past that Jesus must redeem.

He already paid the price. We just have to take the gift.

Slowly as you begin to see Him clearly, you will begin to see yourself clearly. Unworthy becomes made new. Uncertainty becomes confidence. Confusion becomes clarity. And the weight of your sin is replaced with the righteousness of Christ.

We want you to be sure, friend. We want you to know you are loved by a God who created every part of you. He died for you. Now, He is creating a home for you in heaven if you choose to follow Him.

Don’t live one more day feeling alone and uncertain. Jesus is you hope, and He wants you just as you are.

What are you waiting for?
