What is VIP? VIP is a program within the preschool ministry, devoted to children with special needs. VIP is designed to empower children with special needs, providing activities and Bible teaching that is catered specifically to each child’s abilities.
Who are “VIPs”? Children with special needs are Very Important People...VIPs! This includes any child who has:
#Any physical, cognitive, or hidden disability
#Chronic or life-threatening illness
Who are “Pals”? Pals are friends to VIPs who commit to partnering with the VIP in his or her Sunday School classroom every week. Pals’ responsibilities are to assist the VIPs with activities so that they can be successful. When necessary, Pals will receive modified lesson plans to use with their VIPs.
How does VIP work? If you have a child (VIP) with special needs, contact Annie Hunt at 214.969.2432 or . The VIP Director will meet with the parents of the VIP, evaluate his or her needs, and create a profile. Based upon that information, the VIP will either receive a Pal or be enrolled into our self-contained VIP classroom.
How can I be involved? If you have the gifts of compassion and mercy, or if you like working “one-on-one” with children, you have all the qualifications to be a VIP Pal! If you have experience with children with special needs, or if you know someone who does, you could be a great resource for VIPs at FBD! Lastly, everyone can be involved by praying for our ministry, leaders, VIPs, families, and Pals.
