Charlie McAllister, Preschool & Children’s Minister
Charlie has been married for a quarter of a century to Becky. They have four boys, of which three are now in college. Charlie has happily served in Children’s Ministry for almost 19 years in 5 Baptist churches throughout Texas and one in Omaha, NE.
“I serve an awesome God who has allowed me to do what I love by influencing the next generation of Christians. Children’s ministry is my heartbeat and what I love to do. God has given me a special gift to connect with children, and I value that a great deal. Our ministry is here to partner with parents to build spiritual champions and help our kids become committed followers of Jesus Christ. Konda Mehmen, Nursery & Preschool Director
Konda has been married to her wonderful husband, John, for 24 years and they have an amazing 16 year old son, Colby. Konda was 32 years old when she accepted Jesus into her heart and it was at this time that God called her into the ministry, where she has served for 14 years. Holding babies, reading about God, sharing His love, praying with children and witnessing them accept Christ as their Savior has been the ride of a lifetime. Konda believes loving, protecting and teaching “HIS” children is the highest calling and purpose for her life. She feels excited and blessed to be serving at First Baptist Dallas. Email Konda at
Becky McAllister, Elementary Director
Becky has been married to Charlie for almost 25 years. They have 4 sons: Andrew, Matthew, Logan and Luke, ranging from 21 to 13. She has been involved in Children’s Ministry for 18 years, serving with the babies, coordinating 4th and 5th grade, planning and directing VBS for 13 years, counseling at camp, writing curriculum and leading many wonderful elementary teachers. Becky desires that every elementary child that comes through First Dallas will have a deeper understanding of the Bible and how God fits it all together by learning through fun, exciting events and lessons. She also has a passion to see kids putting their faith into action by serving others and becoming leaders in Christ. And she wants children to see that serving God is fun, exciting, and fulfilling!

Annie Hunt, Volunteer & Curriculum Ministry Assistant
Annie was born and raised at First Baptist Dallas, and loves serving alongside some of the same people who taught her as a child! Annie is a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2002, and she received her Master’s Degree in Christian Education and children’s ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2006. While in seminary, she met her wonderful husband Jeremy, and joined the children’s ministry staff at FBD. Jeremy and Annie were married in 2005, and just celebrated the birth of their first baby girl, Hattie, in 2009. Annie is passionate about seeing kids fall in love with Jesus, learn more about Him, and lead others to follow Him. Annie loves to partner with parents and members of First Baptist Dallas, to get them involved as volunteers in the work God is doing in Kids Cove. Email Annie at
Elizabeth Mitchell, Creative Arts Director
Elizabeth is a born and raised Texas girl, who loves to act and spent much of her childhood performing onstage. She felt God’s tug on her heart for ministry after a mission trip to Nicaragua her senior year of high school. After graduating with a BA in Theatre from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2003, she began serving in children’s ministry full time in 2004, and joined the FBD staff in 2009. Elizabeth is passionate about people and has shared God’s love all over the world, including Africa, Ukraine and Dominican Republic. She loves finding creative and fun ways for kids to learn about God and uses new and exciting approaches to show kids that life with Christ is even more exciting than any movie or video game out there! Donna Blackstock, Director of AWANA
Donna and her husband, Jarrod, were married in 2006 and share a love of music and working with students. Donna studied music education and vocal performance at Dallas Baptist University and has taught elementary school music for Scofield Christian School and First Baptist Academy, East Campus, but has been surprised and excited by the direction God has taken her through children’s ministry. Donna has served on FBD staff with the Children’s/Preschool Ministry since October of 2001 and is excited to now serve as the AWANA Commander. She is passionate about using AWANA as a tool to deepen kids’ understanding of who God is and what it means to follow Christ so that they might come to know, love, and serve Him for the rest of their lives.
