“Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your neighbour is the holiest object presented to your senses. If he is your Christian neighbor, he is holy in almost the same way, for in him also Christ is truly hidden—the glorifier and the glorified, Glory Himself, is truly hidden.”
C.S. Lewis

Christian community is a gift given to us by God for our good and His glory. The body of Christ is a family. Because we have trusted in Christ, we will spend eternity together some day. How we treat one another, how we love one another now, matters. God even gave us a roadmap in Scripture for ways we can best care for our Christian family here on earth.

Love one another.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor. Romans 12:10

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34

Encourage one another.
Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25

Admonish one another.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16

But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:13

Serve one another.
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10

So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Galatians 6:10

Pray for one another.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. James 5:16

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18

Support one another.
Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Romans 12:15

It is an honor and a privilege to cultivate and care for those of the household of faith, as it says in Galatians 6. Christian community is a support system, a source of spiritual growth and physical care, a blessing, and a family. You never have to go through life alone.
