When Christmas doesn’t go quite like we planned, it’s time to tag in Plan B. For many of you, the big day will arrive and find you far from loved ones due to weather, finances, relationship dynamics, or your job.

Give the gift of your presence.

Celebrating a holiday away from home may be the recipe for loneliness and depression, but don’t let it win. Your presence is a gift, and the people around you want to care for you. They just may not know the best way to do that. Join with others who may not be with family for Christmas or ask good friends if you can spend part of the day with them. Come prepared with a tradition or two from your family to share and make the holiday sweeter.

Psalm 133 says that it is good and pleasant for us to live in unity with one another. When you can’t be with blood relatives, seek out the body of Christ. They are your eternal family.

Join others in worship

This year, Christmas falls on Sunday, a beautiful day of worship for the believer. While some churches are closing their doors, First Dallas remains open, and we want to invite you to worship our Christmas King with us at our 10:50am worship service on campus or online via our iCampus community. There’s no better place to be on Christmas Day.

Dr. Jeffress will bring an interactive message experience as he shares about the three most important symbols of Christmas – the cradle, the cross, and the crown. While others open gifts Sunday morning, we will join as a family to celebrate the greatest Gift the world ever received. Our family is your family this Christmas morning. You can also join us for a candlelight Christmas Eve service.

When all else fails this Christmas, remember that Jesus came to give us an eternal home and the temporary separation we experience here will be rectified in heaven for those of us who have trusted in Christ. Can you imagine it? One day, every believer will gather around the throne of the Christmas King, together at last, home forevermore.
