Tuohys’ Story Inspires Church, City of Dallas; More Speakers to Come
Perhaps the most touching part about the Oscar-nominated movie “The Blind Side,” with Sandra Bullock, is the fact that it’s based off a true story – Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy’s.
On Sunday morning, July 18, this remarkable couple shared with the First Dallas family, and Dallas residents (through local news coverage), what can happen when we, as Christians, show compassion and commitment to those in need.
“My wife and I were driving down the street going to get breakfast when we saw Michael – we had no intent that day, no agenda,” Sean Tuohy told the audience, sharing about the day they encountered Michael Oher, the homeless teen who they eventually adopted. “At that moment my wife said two words that changed our lives forever – ‘turn around’ – and we did. See our story didn’t start out with a movie, it started with us just turning around. And that’s how it can start for you.”
Dr. Gary Chapman, author of “The Five Love Languages,” will be the next speaker featured in the First Baptist Dallas speakers series on Sunday, Aug. 22, following the Love and Marriage Conference he will be speaking at on Aug. 21.
