Student Camp Re-Cap

Student Camp 2010 - 12010 Camp Theme:  “Hydrate.” In the beginning, it seemed like the perfect theme for the beach…but when our venue was changed to the mountains, we were a bit skeptical about how it would work!  In the end, it could not have been more perfect! Not only did we all desperately need to stay hydrated (since we were at an elevation of 8,600 feet!), but God revealed to us throughout the week how incredibly important it is for us to allow Him to soak us in His Word daily. God used our camp speaker (Wade Morris) to challenge and encourage the 216 students and adults at Silver Cliff Ranch last week with a variety of scripture passages. Here are some selected quotes from Wade based on several of the verses we covered:

Eph. 1 – “We are invited to believe the Gospel, receive the Gospel, and then live the Gospel.”
James 1 - “What you say is not what you believe, what you do is what you believe.”
James 1 – “How much deeper can you get than simply obeying God’s Word?”
James 1 – “Now, even in church, sin has become funny and integrity has become shameful!”
II Peter 1 - “God is going to give you all the love you’ll ever need for your entire life.”
Prov. 31 – “You can tell a true woman of righteousness by how she talks, acts, and dresses.”
I Tim 6 – “You can tell a man of God by what he flees from and what he fights for.”
I Tim 6 – “Holiness isn’t what you do, but who you are.”
Jonah 3 – “We aren’t too busy, we are just too busy for God.”
Psalm 1 – “God is calling us to eliminate some things, add some things, and expect some things.”

Student Camp 2010 - 2As a result of God’s Spirit actively working in students lives all week, we saw 25 students make professions of faith, 13 other students recognize their need to take a step of obedience with believer’s baptism, at least 18 students make recommitments of their lives to Christ, and one student sense a call to full time vocational ministry.

The Sunday night after camp was incredible, as we worshiped together, heard testimonies from adults and students, and watched as 15 students took the next step of following Christ’s example and command, by being baptized.  In the coming weeks and months ahead, it will be exciting to see many other students who will obey Christ’s command to be baptized! I would like to thank our pastor, staff, and the entire church body for supporting the student ministry through your prayers, financial commitments, and encouragement. God is at work in the lives of our students, parents, and adult leaders; and we are excited to see where He leads us next!

Student Camp 2010 - 3Following camp, I always like to take a moment to ask our church members to consider how God might be calling them to become a part of this exciting and growing ministry.  Listed below are several opportunities we make available to those who may sense a calling in this area. To inquire about a particular area of ministry, just call 214.969.2451.  Or, you can email our student ministry administrative assistant at . Thanks . . . and keep praying for our students!
