Laundry Love
“May I pay for your laundry?”
In tough economic times, the Young Professional Class at First Baptist Dallas is seeking innovative ways to share its faith.
In July, eight members of the class went to a local laundromat with the intent of not only helping people to have clean clothes, but to offer patrons a fresh beginning in Christ.
Class members began the dialogue with the simple question, “May I pay for your laundry today?” One gentleman named Darrell accepted the offer, but was quick to respond, “Why?” A member of the class explained that with the economy being so tough, our class felt the need to go and bless others in the name of Jesus.
This short dialogue rapidly opened up discussion and Darrell was asked where he would go if he were to die. Darrell said he didn’t know for sure, but he supposed he would go to heaven since he’d lived a pretty good life.
Class members had the opportunity to go through the Roman Road with Darrell and present him with scripture about salvation and the free gift of God. They even gave him a Bible, and a contact number in case he had any more questions or wanted to visit First Dallas.
That day, amidst the hum of the dryers, Darrell prayed to trust Christ for his salvation, leaving the laundromat with not only clean jeans and t-shirts, but robes of righteousness.
Please pray for Darrell as he begins this new journey of faith - that He will get involved in a local church and continue to grow in his relationship with the Lord.
