First Dallas to Welcome Best-Selling Author and Worldwide Speaker Josh McDowell

Article posted April 1, 2010

Josh McDowellThroughout his ministry, Josh McDowell has addressed more than 10 million people, giving more than 24,000 talks in 118 countries, in order to deliver the gospel message and answer believers’ questions about the faith.

At noon on Good Friday, McDowell will bring this life-changing ministry to First Baptist Dallas, delivering the message “Why Did Jesus Have to Die?”

Few speakers or writers in American evangelicalism have more experience sharing the gospel and answering questions about the faith.

Since 1960, McDowell has written or co-authored 120 books, including his two most popular—More Than a Carpenter and New Evidence That Demands a Verdict. The latter has been named one of the thirteen most influential books of the last 50 years on Christian thought by World Magazine.

McDowell has been nominated 36 times for the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association’s Gold Medallion Award and has received it on four occasions.

McDowell’s concern for sharing Christ, however, does not stop at words. In 1991, Josh founded Operation Carelift to meet the physical and spiritual needs in orphanages, hospitals, schools and prisons in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Since its beginning, the ministry has delivered more than $46,000,000 worth of humanitarian aid.

McDowell has been married to his wife Dottie for 38 years, and they have four children and three grandchildren.

The Good Friday service begins at noon in First Dallas’ Sanctuary. Lunch is served before and after in CenterStage.
