First Baptist Dallas Lines Up to Support Its Newest Author

Article posted October 5, 2009

Marilyn Mansfield - Author of "Being Me, Being Free"When the Sunday evening service ended on October 4, the learning wasn’t over.

A line of parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends formed in the Criswell Center Lobby to greet Marilyn Mansfield, a First Baptist Dallas member, and have her sign their copy of her new book—Being Me, Being Free.

In this guide, Marilyn, an educator for over 25 years, helps the reader—whether parent, grandparent, or teacher—understand children’s unique personality types so they can become the person they were created to be.

“I just pray people will benefit from the knowledge and put it into practice,” Marilyn said.

Peggy Jenkins, who waited in line at the book signing with her grandson, has a special attachment to Being Me, Being Free.

Her daughter, who passed away, was a teacher who also held Marilyn’s view.

“My daughter believed if more teachers would understand how each child is uniquely gifted, we would reach more children for Christ,” Peggy said.

Roena Tandy, who has heard Marilyn speak in conferences, proudly held her five signed copies of Being Me, Being Free. Why five? She is passing them out to five young families who she knows will benefit from Marilyn’s message.

“I was so overwhelmed and appreciative of everyone’s support last night,” Marilyn said. “I think it’s the friendliest church—large or small. It’s incredible how they help everyone grow and support each person.”

Though the book signing is over, it’s not too late to hear Marilyn’s message. Email Marilyn directly at for a copy of Being Me, Being Free.

Or, if you see her at church feel free to say hello and ask about a book—she always has a few on-hand.
