Article posted May 6, 2010

Brian Littlefield - New FBA Head of SchoolFor the past seven years, Brian served as Superintendent of Schools for Hyde Park Baptist Schools in Austin, one of Austin’s largest private K-12 school systems, during which time the Texas Association of Baptist Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools rated Hyde Park as a “Flagship School.” During this time, Brian also served as the President of the Accreditation Commission of the Texas Association of Baptist Schools – but what’s on his resume can’t possibly convey everything that’s in Brian’s heart and head, so we picked his brain a little bit.

Q&A
What is your plan of action for FBA?
My first plan of action for FBA is to make sure that we are committing everything to the Lord; we must truly be Christ-centered above all things. Next, we will be establishing a Strategic Vision Plan for First Baptist Academy of Dallas that will lead us in growing FBA into the “Next Generation Christian School System.”

What are your expectations for the future of FBA? Why?

I believe the Lord has great plans for the future of FBA. It is our job to provide the very best Christian education for our children at FBA, with strong academic programs, exceptional fine arts programs and successful extra-curricular programs. We must equip our students to be the next generation of Christian leaders in our society.

What is your heart for students?

I have always had a passion for working with young people and impacting their hearts and minds for Christ. Our children are our greatest assets and we must invest in them and their lives.

How do you feel like you are serving God in this new role?
God has blessed me with the ability to minister to students, faculty and families. I feel that we are serving God by developing servant leaders through a Christ-centered education and environment.

Littlefield FamilyTell us about your family, favorite things to do, and one unique thing about you.
I have been married to my precious wife, Jacquejoy, for almost 18 years. She is a former educator and now works in real estate. We have two sons, Luke, 12, and Jack, 10. We also have Joseph Babbs, 16, our nephew who has been a member of our household for the past three years. We enjoy outdoor sports – hunting, fishing, camping and hiking – and we also enjoy traveling and reading when we get the opportunity. I have had several unique experiences, including working at NASA, playing in a College Football National Championship game, being a sergeant in the United States Army National Guard, and performing a role in the movie “Second Hand Lions,” which was filmed at our home.
