Church Planted. Lives Changed. Mission (Trip) Accomplished.
Praise report from Missions Minister Michael Fore:
This year’s mission trip to Sao Luis Maranhao, Brazil was greatly blessed by the Lord, touching both Brazilians and our team from FBCD. These efforts were primarily focused on helping a new church started by the Castle Hills Baptist Church in Sao Luis.
In a neighborhood called Turu, our team of six did spiritual surveys, gauging interest in a new church plant, followed up by a personal testimony and culminating in presenting the Billy Graham tract, “Steps to Peace With God,” through an interpreter.
We were able to share our testimonies and present the Gospel at least 80 times individually. Larry Walker, a member of our team and FBCD’s Ambassador at Large, was invited to preach at the 105th anniversary of the First Baptist Church of Sao Luis during the same week. There were many decisions, and God used Larry to greatly encourage and strengthen the church in fulfilling the great Commission.
In summary, there were at least 80 individual presentations of the Gospel, 82 professions of faith, 50 other types of decisions (rededications, baptisms), and seven worship services.
Our team members included Larry Walker, Johnny and Ruby Ray, Steve and Lynn Williams, and myself.
Thank you for all of your prayers and giving to missions through our church, which enables us to share the love of Jesus. One generous FBCD church member provided the funds for us to give the new church 75 Bibles for discipleship and outreach.
At the close of the week, Pr. Neto, leader of the new mission congregation, said to us, “A year from now, when we look back and celebrate the story of our one year anniversary, you will be in it. We thank you and your church for coming and serving alongside us.”
