Christian Values Commended in the Corporate World
While selfish service focused on profits seems to be a sign of our times, Premier Designs founders Andy and Joan Horner remain focused on the vision they’ve held since 1985, to enrich every life they touch.
"I spent many years in the corporate world, driven by the bottom line," Andy recounts. "However, at age 60, I discovered a secret. Yes, we need good products and good management and good plans, but the secret is the people.”
“People” meaning customers and employees alike.
Premier Designs aims to gives mothers in particular the chance to earn an income while still spending quality time with their children at home. The beautiful jewelry, which Joan Horner has a hand in selecting, sells itself, so the “independent jewelers” can focus on more important things at “home shows.”
“When one of our jewelers walks into a home, she must focus on more than selling jewelry,” Andy said. “She must see each of the individuals at the Home Show as an infinitely valuable person made in the image of God. She must care about those people and seek to build them up. Even if the retail sales are disappointing, a Home Show is considered a success if the Jeweler gives of herself — expecting nothing in return — and enriches the lives of each person there by caring, listening, encouraging, and helping each participant understand that they are 'somebody.' This is the heart of how Premier Designs defines success."
Through Andy and Joan’s Christ-like approach of putting people before profits, Premier Designs has grown into a more than 350-million-dollar, debt-free, corporation, with Independent Distributors (jewelers) in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
"Joan and Andy Horner represent the highest levels of integrity. They have become leaders in our industry and have done it the right way,” Neil Offen, president of Direct Selling Association, said.
