Celebrating Life

Article posted January 17, 2010

DPC Baby 2January 22 marks the 37th anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion in the United States.

In effect, since 1973 war has been waged against unborn children in our nation resulting in over 50 million lives that have been lost.

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation establishing a National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Traditionally, Southern Baptist churches have recognized this day on the third Sunday in January of each year.

This past Sunday, Executive Pastor Rev. Walter Guillaume recognized the work of our Downtown Pregnancy Center, which by the grace of God has saved a known 271 babies from the hands of abortionists and witnessed 130 professions of faith.

Sanctity of Life Sunday is a time of remembrance - Remembering the potential of every life God creates, remembering our responsibility to the unborn and to those in an unplanned pregnancy, and remembering the good work accomplished at the Downtown Pregnancy Center, of which you, too, can be a part.
