A Treat for New and Yearly “Christmas and Keyboards-goers”
The First Baptist Dallas music department designs every Christmas and Keyboards performance to be unique, but the 2009 program contains a fresh element that sets it apart from the rest.
“We’ve never had anything in the program before that’s not entirely keyboards,” Coordinator Dr. Jerry Aultman said.
This year, however, Music Minister Dr. Doran Bugg, a trained percussionist, has designed a special percussion ensemble filled with unique elements. And, he will pick up his mallets and take a lead role on the marimba.
“It will be melodic, and of course, Christmas,” Aultman said. “It will be the surprise element.”
The musical tradition, in its 10th year of featuring Christmas classics performed on multiple keyboards, is one the most beloved Christmas traditions at First Dallas.
“I believe it is one of the most unique Christmas musical programs in our city,” Choir Member Susan Money said. “So many genres of music are represented and played exceptionally well. It is fun, moving, majestic and worshipful!”
“Six pianos, a phenomenal pipe organ, an incredible rhythm section and over 40 amazing musicians makes for a performance you won’t soon forget,” Money added.
Because of its popularity, the performance is given twice on December 20—3 and 6pm in the sanctuary.
Come early and get a seat—this is a Christmas event you don’t want to miss.
