Stephen Ministry

Our Mission

The Stephen Ministry exists to serve the Lord at First Baptist Dallas by providing acomprehensive system of training and equipping laypersons to be skilled Christlike caregivers to the church family and surrounding community.

Our Ministry

Stephen was one of the first deacons in the early church. He was commissioned by the apostles to care for the community's needs (Acts 6). He was characterized as a man full of grace and power (6.8). As a result of his ministry, "the word of God continued to spread (6.7)."

Trained, caring lay ministers provide one-to-one ministry in long or short term helping relationships. A lay minister focuses on the unique needs of each person. This trained Stephen Minister has the skills and gifts for bringing Christ's healing love to people who are lonely, grieving, strangers, new parents, ill, or experiencing other stresses in life.

Stephen Ministry is a commitment to caring and supporting one another, to build a Christ-centered, sharing community.
